Make Space To Create: Why a Small Art Space at Home Can Change Everything π¨
When people imagine an artist’s workspace, they often picture a beautiful studio filled with shelves of materials, perfect lighting and endless space to spread out.
But the truth is… you really don’t need any of that to enjoy being creative.
As part of my Make Space To Create series, I want to encourage you to think differently about what an art space can be.
Because creativity does not need perfection. It simply needs a space that welcomes you in.
Your Art Space Doesn’t Need to Be Big
A creative space can be incredibly simple.
It might be:
β¨ a small table in the corner of the room
β¨ a tray of art materials ready to bring out
β¨ a sketchbook by the window
β¨ a quiet chair with good light
β¨ or a few pencils and paints kept within easy reach
Sometimes the smallest spaces become the most meaningful.
Why Having a Creative Space Matters
One of the biggest barriers to creativity is often getting started.
If all your materials are packed away in cupboards, stored in different rooms, or difficult to access, it can begin to feel like too much effort.
But when your materials are ready and waiting for you?
It becomes much easier to sit down for ten minutes with a cup of tea, pick up a pencil, and enjoy a little creative time.
That small shift can make a huge difference.

I also shared a peek inside my studio trolley recently — full of all the little everyday things that quietly support creativity, from pencils and sketchbooks to stickers, tape and inspiring art books.
It’s a lovely reminder that creativity often starts with using what we already have around us.
Make Space To Create
This whole campaign is about making creativity feel achievable and enjoyable.
Not perfect.
Not expensive.
Not intimidating.
Just real creative spaces for real people.
Whether you create at the kitchen table, in a spare room, in the garden shed or in a cosy corner of the living room… your space is enough.
