Helen (course creator) from Create! art school
Create! art school is where I help people relax, unwind, unleash their creativity and make beautiful art.
Hello I'm Helen and I own and run Create! art school. I'm passionate about art and helping others discover their inner artist. My nurturing and supportive classes will allow you to immerse yourself in drawing, painting, printing or craft. Online or in-studio...my classes will fit into your life.
I firmly believe that anyone can be creative, you just need to give yourself the time, space and a little help to get there. As a busy mum of 2, a business owner and former Head of Art in a Secondary School, I understand the pressure life puts on us.
I also know how easy it is not to reward ourselves with time to do things we love. That's where I come in.....Create! gives you that chance to escape real life for a bit, and immerse yourself into a completely mindful activity.
Since setting up the business in 2017, I have helped hundreds of people, adults and children, unleash their creativity.

"I joined Create! Art School Club to give me focus to the long unstructured days during Lockdown. Thanks to Helen, it has really enriched my life. I have tried so many new ways of creating artwork. I have always joined art classes wherever I lived in the world but I have to say Create! is a perfect fit being so much more than an art class. I have ‘met’ so many like minded, supportive and friendly people and love seeing everyone’s projects and sharing ideas.
Hard to pick just one piece out so have posted my ever-changing ‘gallery’ wall!"
“I was obliged to give up art when I was 14 and was always inhibited about trying to draw or paint because my older sister was very talented.
Now well over retirement age I had a yen to do something creative, especially the first lockdown began. Full of trepidation I joined Helen's drawing AND painting on line classes.
Helen is a great teacher, planning classes carefully and makes sure that EVERYONE has a positive experience and can create something lovely at the end of every class.
I was quite frankly amazed at being able . So much so that I have abandoned all sense of minimalism and modesty and started an art wall.
I was quite frankly amazed at being able to produce work that pleased me!”
"Once a room where I used to mark books and prepare lessons, it has now become my studio! I knew that I needed to 'join' a class or group if I was actually going to draw again after more than 30 years ..... and so I discovered Helen and Create! Art School.
Thanks to this friendly and supportive on-line community, I have explored different media, learnt new techniques and gained the confidence to move out of my artistic comfort zone.
Helen is an inspirational teacher who offers a varied programme of courses, either live on Zoom or via video. I have loved so many of her themes! "
"I grew up believing that I was completely rubbish at art, especially drawing. Your classes have been inspirational, and you are so wonderful in encouraging me/us all that everyone can be artistic and not to worry about mistakes because you can just change the piece accordingly! I am so enjoying the variety of classes you provide, which are excellent, and I no longer think that I am completely rubbish - and that’s all through your fabulous teaching & making everything fun to do. (I will never forget my first class with you when the bird I drew/painted actually looked like a bird! In fact, I am quite proud of it!). You have opened up a new world for me.
For my birthday earlier this year, one of my sisters got me a fabulous art portfolio which I can now store all my work in (I’m not throwing anything away - following your advice!), and my other sister got me a picture frame which holds 3 pictures - it is so easy just to change them around depending upon what I have done week by week/month by month. Following on from today’s conversation, I thought that I would send you a few photo’s of this frame with some of the different combinations of art that I have most recently displayed (behind our kitchen door, so that it’s very easy to see, but not too much in the open - still needing a bit of confidence to put anywhere else). My family are all most impressed with how I am progressing, and what I am achieving - they are the best art critique group I could have; so kind & encouraging."
