Exploring Abstract Art with Lee Krasner: March Online Art Workshop
Feb 19, 2026
In March, we’re exploring bold, expressive abstract art inspired by Lee Krasner. This is a lovely opportunity to loosen up your style, try something different and enjoy creating without worrying about getting everything “right”.
Lee Krasner was an American abstract expressionist painter, working in New York in the 1940s. She was part of an important movement in modern art and, although she was married to Jackson Pollock, she was a hugely talented artist in her own right. For many years her work was overlooked, but today she is recognised for her powerful, energetic paintings and her willingness to keep experimenting throughout her life.
What makes Krasner so inspiring is that she didn’t stick to one style. She was always evolving, often working on large canvases with bold, sweeping marks. She even cut up her own earlier paintings to create new collage pieces, showing that art doesn’t have to be perfect to be valuable. It’s all part of the process.
In this month’s Famous Artist Art Hub Artist Workshop on Wednesday 12th March at 10am, we’ll be taking inspiration from her expressive approach. We’ll be working with wax resist and black ink to explore mark making, layering and shape, building up an abstract piece step by step.
This workshop is about letting go a little, building confidence and enjoying the freedom of abstract art. It’s perfect if you’ve ever felt unsure where to start with this style, or if you’d simply like to try something new.
The session is held live on Zoom and lasts two hours, and you’ll be able to watch it again afterwards if you’d like to take your time.
This class is available exclusively inside my Create! Art Hub membership, where you’ll find a mix of skills workshops, artist inspired sessions and a growing library of recorded classes. It’s a friendly and supportive space to develop your creativity at your own pace.
You can join for ?19 a month and take part in this workshop, along with everything else inside the Hub.
