6 summer sketchbook tips

I have created a 6 summer sketchbook tips to keep you inspired over the summer.

Where can you get inspiration to fill your sketchbook?

The summer provides lots of sources of information as we seem to be out and about more.

You get outside more, you visit places, you may take a summer holiday.

So, whether you are just exploring your local area, your own garden, or whether you are out visiting parks, towns, museums and stately homes…it’s the perfect time to get sketching!

Where ever you are deciding to go, arm yourself with the sketchbook and basic kit!

TIP #1: SKETCHBOOK:

What kind of sketchbook do you want to use?

Decide on the size.

Do you draw big or small? Do you like boxes to fill or bank pages?

You can get all sorts from just simple bits of paper clipped together (homemade / budget) - good for later if you want to spread your sketches out and work from them.

Or ring bound (I prefer these because you can fold them back and use the weight of the book as a ‘table’ to lean on

Or a fancy arty notebook that has concertina bits or pretty paper cover.

You can customise anything too so even if you get the most boring looking book you can cover it up with nice paper or doodle on it.
